Happy Thanksgiving! We were so blessed to have our dear friends David & Kristen Okada, and Mark & Karen Dawson here in Uganda with us for Thanksgiving! The Okadas traveled all the way from Georgia and the Dawsons came from South Africa. It was so fun to celebrate Thanksgiving together and we had a lot to be thankful for this year!
The Okadas brought some Thanksgiving foods from the States so we could have a traditional meal including cranberries, green bean casserole, stuffing, pumpkin and pecan pie! We made sure to have a Ugandan flare by making fruit salad with pineapple, mango and banana. Micah went to the local market the day before Thanksgiving and picked out a small turkey. Micah had the turkey killed and cleaned in the market and picked it up that night. It was fresh to say the least. When the guys started preparing the turkey they found eggs in it!! Yes, it was in the process of laying eggs 🙂
We cooked all day in the kitchen with our tiny little stove and had lots of fun spending time together. The meal was amazing!
Micah and I are abundantly thankful for the gift of Porter in our lives. We are thankful to live in Uganda and have such an incredible community here and in the states. It was wonderful to celebrate all that God has done for us and give thanks!
Love you two! Missing you so much and hope to meet the new addition soon, and maybe even stop by your new home! Some day!!!! XOXO
