We truly enjoyed our three weeks working with Hydrating Humanity in Kehancha, Kenya. We stayed with Solomon, his wife Maybelle, and their kids. We slept in these cute huts, and had access to flush toilets and running water! Maybelle was an incredible cook and took very good care of us.
While we were there they had two different teams come from the States to work on building spring wells and teaching hygiene education in the local schools. They were so fun to work with and really encouraged us in what we are doing. They also treated us to some American snacks (woot woot)! We were able to follow them around a little and capture the relationships they had formed over their week working alongside the Kenyan staff.
We also had the opportunity to capture the Kenyan team working on a pump well. They are incredibly talented and are making such an impact in their community. You can see more of those pictures of the Kenyan team and pictures we took for Hydrating Humanity at www.designedfour.com under the Hydrating Humanity photo gallery.
We spent most of our days in the field with Hydrating Humanity documenting their impact. We had so much fun working together! I learned how to be a second shooter for Micah. We loved visiting different schools in the Kuria District in Kenya. I have been learning quite a bit of Swahili so I could at least sing head, shoulders, knees and toes with the kids. They thought my swahili was quite funny, and enjoyed increasing my vocabulary. Here are some snap shots of how we spent our days!
Maybe you see a trend of Micah hard at work and I am what we like to call “extroverting”. I promise I organize things and take pictures too!
And a few shots of some local animals…
Pedro the Lion is a little stinker, but still the cutest puppy.
Of course lots of laughter and our usual shenanigans!
Special Thank You to Park Avenue Church mission teams for being so encouraging to Micah and I. We loved spending a couple of weeks with you and hope to road trip to Florida to see you when we get back! Lots of love from Kenya! We miss you and your snacks 🙂
Thanks Solomon and Maybelle for being such gracious hosts! You have a beautiful family and home. We can’t wait to visit again!
Thank you Pat and Hydrating Humanity for letting Micah and I tag along for a couple of weeks and believing in us. We loved working with you and seeing your incredible impact in the Kuria district through providing clean water and hygiene education. We look forward to future collaboration!
